This year’s 50/50 will support alliance mammography services, helping ensure patients continue to have access to high-quality breast imaging close to home, the foundation said.
Recent Ontario Breast Screening Program changes have expanded eligibility, allowing individuals aged 40 to 74 to self-refer for routine screening. As a result, more people than ever are choosing CKHA for their mammograms, the foundation added.
At the same time, the hospital’s mammography equipment has reached the end of its expected service life, the foundation said. Updated imaging technology will help improve early detection, reduce downtime and decrease need for repeat scans or followup procedures, while providing faster, clearer results that help patients feel more confident and supported through the screening process.

The foundation credited the event’s success to the generous support of sponsors, including lead sponsor Motion.
Funds raised support essential CTC programs, including social work, therapeutic recreation, music therapy and specialized equipment — services not fully funded by government, but critical to the well-being of children and families in Chatham-Kent, the foundation said.
“Boccia for the Kids reflects our community’s commitment to inclusion,” said Mike Genge, foundation president and chief executive. “This tournament brought people of all abilities together and highlighted the importance of ensuring every child has access to the supports they need to thrive. We are grateful to everyone whose contributions made this tournament possible.”
