Unless you are directly involved in the field of medicine, you may not be aware of the many challenges that our health care workers face on a daily basis.  From working with people who are not their best selves due to illness and trauma, to supporting a grieving individual on the loss of their loved one, our health care professionals have been called to a difficult life of caring for others.

How do they manage on-the-job stresses and the demands of home and family all at the same time?

The Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation (BRHC) is hosting a conference for health care workers to help them navigate through this very question.

“Our first Thrive Conference will be a revitalizing half-day event dedicated to supporting and inspiring our regional healthcare workers,” shares BRHC Foundation Communications & Development Coordinator, Jessica Saler.

“In these challenging times, it’s easy to lose sight of the passion and motivation that originally drew many to the field of healthcare,” she adds. “The Thrive Conference is designed to reignite that spark and provide a supportive environment for professionals navigating the complexities of today’s healthcare landscape.”

Saler points out that the conference is the first of its kind in the southwest corner of the province and is meant for all healthcare workers from across the entire Westman Region.  Three keynote speakers will encourage and challenge their audience from three different perspectives.

“Whether its professional development or personal development, a lot of it is that you’re working on yourself, but you’re working as a whole team as well,” says Saler, “and then there are a lot of factors that are in your environment that may be outside your control. So, in selecting our speakers we wanted to make sure that we covered … all of that.”

The 2025 Thrive Conference will help support the new critical care building while also providing an opportunity for our regional health care workers to learn, network, grow, and thrive.

The BRHC Foundation’s capital campaign, A Foundation for Care, has the goal of raising $2 million by end of 2025 to support the construction of the BRHC’s new Critical Care building, along with needed equipment.

Once completed the project will feature a new 16-bed Intensive Care Unit on the main level. Approximately 30 additional medical beds on the 2nd level. Mechanical space on the 3rd level. And the 4th level will be shell space for potential future expansions.
