Thrive 2025: Supporting Westman healthcare workers, supporting Brandon’s Critical Care project – DiscoverWestman.com

The Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation is inviting health care workers and students in the field of medicine to mark their calendars for May 8th, when they will be hosting their first annual Thrive Conference at the Keystone Centre.

The Thrive 2025 Conference is designed to be a revitalizing half-day event dedicated to supporting and inspiring our regional healthcare workers from across the Westman Region.

BRHC Foundation Communications & Development Coordinator, Jessica Saler, says this is the first of its kind in the Westman area where they’re holding a conference specifically for healthcare workers. “But it’s also a fundraiser and so that’s where the proceeds can get reinvested back into our local healthcare system.”

All proceeds from Thrive 2025 will support the Foundation’s capital campaign for the new Critical Care building at the Brandon hospital.  Funds raised will be directed towards essential equipment and infrastructure needs.  The goal is to raise $2 million by the end of 2025.

Once completed the Critical Care building will feature:

  • A new 16-bed Intensive Care Unit on the main level
  • Approximately 30 additional medical beds on the 2nd level
  • Mechanical space on the 3rd level
  • Shell space for potential future expansions on the 4th level

The Thursday afternoon conference will feature three keynote speakers who will share insights on overcoming the obstacles faced in healthcare, rediscovering professional passion in medicine and fostering a positive and resilient work culture within healthcare teams.

“A lot of the time for personal and professional development in your industry you have to go to Winnipeg or to a bigger city,” says Saler. “You’ve got to travel to do it. So, we’re very excited to be able to bring something here that’s closer to all of our rural communities.”

As of today, January 13th, tickets are available, as well as early bird tickets prior to March 31st.  A 25% discount is also being offered to Brandon University and Assiniboine College students

“I think it’s going to be really great for students who are maybe wanting to get that professional development before they enter the workforce,” shares Saler. “It’s a great opportunity for that, and we’re also going to have a resource booth there and that’s whether you’re in the healthcare field or considering it. We’re going to have different resources there for the folks who are attending.”

“If there’s a way that we can support our current healthcare workers, or future healthcare workers like the students at ACC and BU so that when they enter healthcare that we’re retaining them, that we’re helping to support them and navigate these times. I think that’s the best that we can do as a community.”

Early bird ticket (Jan 13-Mar 31): $50

Regular ticket (beginning April 1): $65

ACC & BU Students get 25% off (must have discount code to apply at checkout)
