Deep River welcomes new family doctor to strengthen local health care

Deep River and District Health (DRDH) is proud to welcome Dr. Doniya Quenneville to the North Renfrew Family Health Team. Starting in June 2025, Dr. Quenneville will open a new primary care practice and also provide care in the Emergency Department and Medical Inpatient Unit at the Deep River hospital.

Her arrival marks a major step forward in improving access to essential health care services for residents of Deep River and surrounding areas. Dr. Quenneville will begin accepting new patients through Health Care Connect, Ontario’s waitlist program for people without a family doctor. Residents interested in registering can visit the Health Care Connect website or call 1-800-445-1822.

Dr. Quenneville brings a strong and diverse background in health care. She started her career in nursing after graduating from the University of Ottawa, later attending the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Sudbury. She recently completed her Family Medicine Residency through the University of Ottawa, training in Pembroke and working closely with local physicians in Deep River.

Dr. Quenneville is passionate about patient-centered family medicine and is also dedicated to expanding access to gender-affirming care throughout the Ottawa Valley. Her experience in rural communities, along with her deep understanding of local health needs, makes her a valuable addition to the region.

Originally from Elliot Lake, Dr. Quenneville now lives in Deep River with her wife Amanda and their young daughter. Amanda is a former Deep River resident, and the family is excited to build their future in this close-knit and welcoming community.

DRDH continues to focus on physician recruitment to strengthen health services in the region. With support from the municipalities of Deep River, Laurentian Hills, and Head, Clara & Maria, the hospital and North Renfrew Family Health Team are actively working to attract more healthcare professionals to the area.
