GE HealthCare has introduced the Carestation 850, a new anesthesia delivery system aimed at supporting clinical precision and operational flexibility across a range of patient types.
The system, which is currently pending FDA 510(k) clearance, was unveiled ahead of its showcase at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025, taking place October 10–14 in San Antonio.
The Carestation 850 builds on the Palo Alto, California-based company’s existing Carestation portfolio. It features an ergonomic design, widescreen display, and customizable tools designed to assist anesthesia providers in managing complex surgical cases. The system includes a vaporization platform that allows for agent refill while in use and incorporates advanced alerting capabilities.

The product has already received a CE mark in Europe and regulatory clearance in Australia and New Zealand. Its design incorporates features that may support sustainability efforts within health systems, such as adaptable algorithms and power-efficient components.
The launch comes amid continued pressure on anesthesia providers, with workforce shortages and burnout on the rise. GE HealthCare cites projections of a shortfall of more than 12,000 anesthesiologists in the U.S. by 2033 as a driver for more efficient and adaptable solutions.
The company is demonstrating the Carestation 850 at booth #1314 during the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 conference.
