The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) held its Annual and Special Members Meeting on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. The event brought together board members, staff and volunteers from across HPHA’s hospital sites to reflect on the past year, celebrate shared achievements, and look ahead to the future of local healthcare. We were also thrilled to welcome MPP Matthew Rae and MPP Lisa Thompson, whose presence highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in supporting and advancing healthcare in our region.
This year’s meeting included a special celebration with the return of HPHA’s Awards of Excellence, honouring staff and teams who have gone above and beyond in advancing care, fostering collaboration, and exemplifying HPHA’s values in their everyday work.
A total of nine awards were presented in the following categories:
- Engaging with Passion – Clinton Public Hospital: Kirsten Allen, Registered Nurse, Emergency Department
- Engaging with Passion – Seaforth Community Hospital: Becky Flynn, Registered Nurse, Inpatient Unit
- Engaging with Passion – St. Marys Memorial Hospital: Stacey Schade, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant
- Engaging with Passion – Stratford General Hospital: Kendra Hodgins, Pharmacy Technician
- Collaborating with Exceptional Care: Clinical Nursing Education (Clinical Nurse Educators: Katie Fearns, Selina Fleming, Tasha Vandervliet and Clinical Scholars: Amanda Van Nynatten, Anita Natywary, Anne Marie Rock, Brittany Paton, Candance Riehl, Jessica Cook, Jodilynn Taylor, Karen Wilson, Kate Steele, Linsey Vankooten, Sarah Barber)
- Optimism Award: Everette Melanson, Interface Specialist, Information Technology
- Innovation Award: Kiosk Project Team (Brenda Murray, Carrie Mills, Curtis Agar, Everette Melanson, Jennifer Penner, Kate Gibson, Kate Welsh, Lynne Gotts, Nicole Bernier)
- Leadership Award (Staff): Karen Jutzi, Team Leader/Registered Nurse, PACU Team
- Leadership Award (Physician): Dr. Gregg Hancock – OBGYN
In addition, HPHA had the pleasure of honouring one of our dedicated Patient and Caregiver Partners, Barbara Fewster. Barb has volunteered her time, voice, and lived experience to help improve the healthcare journey for others, a contribution that truly reflects the spirit of partnership and people-centred care at HPHA. As part of this celebration, Barb also received her 15-year service recognition, a milestone that speaks to her long-standing commitment and impact. We are proud to recognize the important role our Patient and Caregiver Partners play in shaping meaningful, compassionate care, and we look forward to continuing recognition for those who volunteer in the future.
