Tom and Bev Prout have been consistent supporters of the South Huron Hospital Foundation over the years, but the foundation said the latest gift marks their largest contribution to date — and comes with a bigger vision.
“We hope to encourage others to give,” the Prouts said. “We envision a healthy, vibrant community with access to more services and healthy living strategies for all.”
Foundation board chair Rob Tait said the Prouts’ generosity extends beyond their latest donation.
“Tom and Bev are one of those couples who quietly and humbly make South Huron a better place to live,” he said. “They’ve given their time and leadership to many local charities, including the United Church, Sunset Foundation and other community initiatives. Tom’s previous work as chairman of the South Huron Community/Vitality Fund has been instrumental in fostering local investment through grants. We are deeply grateful that the Prouts have chosen to support the work of the South Huron Hospital Foundation with this momentous gift.”

Foundation executive director Krista McCann expressed appreciation for the donation.
“Tom and Bev made a conscious decision to be philanthropic,” she said. “This is who they are. This gift is not only for the benefit of the foundation, it’s a gift to the entire community. It’s incredibly humbling to witness such authentic generosity.”
The South Huron Hospital Foundation raises funds to support health care needs that are not otherwise funded by the Ministry of Health. The foundation said donations play a vital role in ensuring the hospital is equipped with the latest tools, technology and equipment.
“With gifts like the Prouts’, the foundation can continue investing in access to care and a healthier future for our community,” McCann said.
